Metsä Board Research and Product Development (R&D) is responsible for company's product development. The work involves internal cooperation with mills, technical service, sales, purchasing and product safety. The external cooperation is key part of the work. Metsä Board R&D at Äänekoski is part of the Excellence Centre which brings together Metsä Board's own competencies and deep expertise in fibre-based solutions with that of various experts and partners. The cooperation covers customers, supplier companies, research organizations and potentially also start-up companies.

to its Barrier development team. As Development Manager you will report to Director, Barrier development and work closely with both own team members and other members of R&D organization. You will also cooperate with other internal functions, including paperboard mills and Sales as well as external stakeholders, like suppliers and service providers. The position is located either in Espoo or in Äänekoski, Finland.

- R&D of barrier paperboard products
- Supporting our R&D Laboratory in developing new methods linked to plastic replacement
- Participating in projects at Metsä Board's production units supporting product development
- Customer-oriented problem solving
What are we looking for?
Competent candidate should have:
- Academic degree in material science, polymer chemistry or other field relevant to the position
- Practical experience in the field of barrier development including experience in a research laboratory environment
- Capabilities for independent research and product development work
- Good problem solving skills
- Capabilities for networking and being a good team player
- Experience in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) is appreciated
- Good English language skills, other languages are seen as benefit
- Readiness to travel
