Do you have extensive experience within Project Risk Management, Projects Controls or Project Delivery of large scale infrastructure projects? RWE is a Global Leader in Renewables and specifically Offshore Wind and we are looking for a Risk Manager to take over the US pipeline of Offshore Wind projects and help us develop, construct and operate clean energy across the East and West Coast. You will be joining a global team of 40+ Risk Management and Project Planning specialists located throughout the US, Europe, UK&I, Scandinavia and APAC to realise the RWE mission to drive the energy transition to clean sustainable sources of power.
Your responsibilities and main tasks:
Reporting to the Project Finance Directors and Development Directors you will drive and promote Risk Management activities across the US portfolio of Offshore Wind Projects, taking responsibility for projects in California, New York and the Gulf Of Mexico
Contribute the future pipeline of projects in the US by supporting new bids, JV activities and identification of new opportunities to grow the US business
Independent analysis of life-cycle Project Risks of various RWE-owned offshore projects and JV projects in the development, construction and operation phase as well as independent development of risk mitigation strategies (taking into account the reporting and support needs of project management, offshore management and other internal and external stakeholders).
Facilitation of Project Risk workshops through all phases of the project lifecycle ( Development, Bid, Pre FID and Construction)
Determine the project budget contingency using appropriate quantitative methods (e.g. Monte Carlo) whilst as monitoring and controlling the project contingency budget during the course of the project
Deploy stringent approaches to transparency of business case review to ensure we can effectively and responsibility develop, build and operate Offshore Wind in the US by identifying potential areas of risk of uncertainty
Regular reporting on the development of strategic, qualitative and quantitative risks across the US portfolio through risk workshops and regular interaction with all project workstreams
Support in the analysis of insurance options and requirements as well as operational insurance management in close coordination with the insurance management of the RWE Group
Intensive cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary coordination to ensure consistency and comparability in dealing with the various risks that an operational, dynamic and strongly technology-oriented business field with pioneering character entails
Support of contract negotiation through risk based decision making
Deliver project Stress Tests, Schedule Risk Analysis and Pre-Mortem analysis
Your Qualification:
Successful completion of a degree in industrial engineering, business administration, business law or an engineering-related course of study, an interdisciplinary education (double degree or similar) would be an advantage.
At least 5 years of professional experience in project management, contract management and/or economic project/risk assessment in the field of power generation (ideally Offshore Wind)with a strong understanding and practical of knowledge of cost, risk and scheduling requirements of a large infrastructure projects
Confident use of Excel is required, experience in programming with @Risk or Active Risk Management (ARM) experience with MS Project and Primavera an advantage
Understanding of quantitative concepts such as P-mean, P80, P50 and Deterministic Vs Probabilistic data and results
Confident in dealing with time-critical project work and short deadlines
Strong understanding of technical or legal issues and a quick, analytical grasp of the issues
Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and deliver objectives to challenging timelines
Strong communicator and the ability to understand technical, economic and strategic concepts quickly
Fluent in written English
High degree of willingness to travel for specific tasks
