We are looking for a job alternation leave substitute working as a Research Scientist in Physical Analytical Laboratory. This is a temporary position for a person who is unemployed and meets the requirements for a job alternation leave substitute. The laboratory is located in Espoo and the position is starting during May and continuing until November 2024.
You will act as an analytical expert of physical analytics. Your responsibilities include physical analytics, using different kinds of physical techniques (XRD, DSC, TGA, DVS, LDP, SSA, microscopes etc). You will provide and interpretate physical results and bring solid state characterization knowledge to the projects. In every day work you will guide the work of Research Assistants in the laboratory, review results and make conclusions of the studies. You also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for documenting the physical analytical work for e.g. registration purposes.
Description of function
Physical Analytical Laboratory is part of Pharmaceutical Sciences in R&D. The team provides physical analytical services for Orion R&D projects and for product lifecycle management processes. Additionally, physical quality control is part of the team's responsibilities. Main tasks include physical analytical methods development and analyses for chemical entities and drug formulations. Our team consists of physical analytical scientists as well as research assistants.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have M.Sc. degree in chemistry, pharmacy or physics along with understanding of solid state properties. To succeed, you need knowledge and experience in physical analytical techniques. You are also capable of working in the laboratory. You propose practical solutions to address identified problems. Fluent communication skills in English are essential. We appreciate prior experience in drug discovery and development. You need to be a good team player and have excellent interpersonal skills.
