DATA SCIENTIST 

In your role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our operations run smoothly, making a substantial contribution to Finnair's success. As a Data Scientist, you are tasked with the development, implementation, and oversight of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence models. Your focus will be on refining these models to address business challenges effectively, ensuring they are reliable and applicable in real-world scenarios, all while enhancing the efficiency of our operational solutions. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Identify data science opportunities from business challenges. 

  • Clearly define data science solutions with goals, objectives, and expected outcomes. 

  • Develop, validate, and test the effectiveness of ML/AI models. 

  • Implement a containerized ML workflow using tools like Docker. 

  • Deploy ML/AI models into AWS environments using established CI/CD pipelines. 

  • Manage the ML model lifecycle with MLOps best practices. 

  • Ensure data quality and uphold data governance standards throughout the development process. 

  • Define and implement test cases to ensure the reliability and accuracy of data science solutions. 

 

This role also involves a collaboration with business units, delivering tailored ad-hoc analyses to meet their specific needs and contributing to development projects by offering robust data science and analytics support. 

 

Our expectations: 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a data-centric role within an analytics-intensive environment. 

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, or Engineering. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced analytics, including numerical optimization, time series forecasting, reinforcement learning, predictive analytics, and mixed integer programming.

  • Strong foundational knowledge in mathematics, particularly in probability, statistics, and linear algebra.

  • Proven ability to address and solve complex business problems.

  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.

  • Decisive and systematic decision-making skills, capable of performing under pressure.

  • Experience with agile project methodologies and using CI/CD pipelines for rapid development and deployment.

  • Proficient in Python and SQL. Experience with AWS and Docker is highly beneficial.

  • Knowledge of GDPR and AI Ethics principles.
