We are now seeking a dynamic and talented Lead Full Stack Developer to join our team.

Norsepower Rotor Sail™ harnesses the wind to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce emissions of ships. It is the first commercially available mechanical sail for large vessels. It has a proven track record of successful operation since 2014. Norsepower’s project services cover all phases from sales to project delivery and operational support. Each project is planned according to the client’s needs and preferences.

In this role, you will be part of a motivated department consisting of automation, software, UX, data, and electrical professionals. The team’s responsibility is to develop control system, IoT applications, and electrical hardware design related to Rotor Sails™. As a Lead Full Stack Developer, you will have ownership of an edge application and future cloud services. The job will include defining and designing an edge platform and application interfaces while focusing on delivering high-quality software. There is also a possibility to contribute to high-level control system related development and to work closely with deep learning and automation system experts.

To succeed in this position, we expect you to have good interaction skills, a proven track record of industrial web application development, and knowledge of best practices required for high-quality software development. We operate in a flexible hybrid model, encouraging attendance at the office 2-3 times a week to foster a collaborative work environment.

We hope you

• Have experience in building robust and highly available web applications with modern technology
• Are an expert with at least one backend technology such as NodeJS
• Are experienced with the following:
  • Linux operating systems
  • Databases
  • Setting up and using test frameworks

• Have a strong technical background (M.Sc/B.Sc) and a few years of full-time project experience in the relevant IT field
• Have an understanding of cyber security and related best practices
• Have experience with DevOps practices
• Have full working proficiency in English

Bonus skills

• C/C++ programming experience and interest in real-time applications
• Experience in the marine industry
• Experience working with VSAT and edge applications operating with limited internet connection
• Machine learning and data science experience
• Interest in control theory
• General understanding of physics
