In our Electric Vehicle Systems (EVS) we develop and manufacture battery systems from 48V up to High Voltage for automotive and industrial applications. Valmet Automotive covers the full range from contract manufacturing to a TIER1 system supply.
Here's where you'll make an impact:

• Manage/organize/execute welding and other joining technology development tasks assigned to the internal development pipeline
• Act as an Expert in metal joining methods and equipment for laser welding
• Develop and design welds for new designs e.g. electrical connections, bi-metallic joints and structural joints
• Develop reliable metal joining techniques for usage in various areas in Li-ion batteries and supportive structures
• Consult and support running projects in battery cell busbar laser welding design and parameterization
• Consult and support running projects in battery housing structural welding design and parameterization

We hope that you would have:

• Knowledge /experience of metallurgy and modern welding techniques, especially in laser welding
• Knowledge of joining materials and the related effect on material properties (arc welding, laser welding, joining of different materials)
• Knowledge / experience of verifying weld quality by e.g. cross cuts
• Knowledge / experience of automation and robotics is seen as an asset
• Systematic working approach and ability to focus attention to details
• Possibility to do hands-on weld development work in our Uusikaupunki facility, Finland (partially remote work possible)
• An academic background is seen as an asset
• Mechanical design skills are seen as an asset (3D CAD)
