Kalmar is looking for a Trainee, Data Science.

The Data Science Trainee participates in planning and implementation of Data Science projects and data-driven technology development within different Kalmar business areas. During the traineeship the candidate has opportunities to learn how to work as a data scientist in a global-scale industrial company and progressively contribute to the Data Science projects the candidate is involved with.

The potential projects the candidate will be involved with come from the areas of aftermarket sales, electrification, energy consumption estimation and machine maintenance services and contracts.

The work will be done as a member of the Analytics & AI team of Kalmar Digitalization and it will be supported by other experienced team members. The trainee will work alongside a mentoring data scientist from the same team.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Familiarise with the existing work and solutions by the team
• Learning to evaluate, contribute and constructively criticise the work done within the team
• Learning to provide data insights through informative visualisations and exploratory data analysis
• to support different parties at Kalmar
• Learning to identify opportunities for improving decision making and processes within Kalmar
• using Data Science.
• Helping the Analytics & AI team to improve the data usability and accessibility through better data
• asset design
• Collaborating and communicating ideas and findings about ongoing work with different
• stakeholders
• Documenting the work progress in a structured way
• Reporting on the progress to the mentoring Data Scientist and the team.

What you’ll need to succeed

Education

• Bachelor’s degree
• Advanced studies in mathematics, statistics, signal processing, computer science, scientific
• computing or quantitative analysis.

Experience

• Programmatic data processing and analysis
• Applying the skills from advanced, university-level, studies in research or working life
• Personal time management, workload prioritisation and clear target setting to meet
• stakeholder requirements
• Carrying out research individually in technological, scientific or financial context
• Teamwork in technological, scientific or financial context.

Competencies

• Clear area or areas of expertise in Data Science
• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL
• Programming in Python, R, Julia, MATLAB, Scala or C++
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
