Sappi Kirkniemi paper plant in Lohja produces approximately 750 000 tonnes of high-quality magazine paper every year, which is used in publications around the world. Around 570 professionals work in Kirkniemi from production to product development.
Department and job purpose
This position will be part of a quite small but proficient and skilled procurement team, where recruited person will work with two other buyer and reports to the Head of Mill Procurement.
Team is responsible for purchasing local goods, services and capex in the most cost effective way whilst working with the various stakeholders in accordance with the Sappi procurement policy. Every buyer response own categories, so will have an independent and wide job area.

Team is responsible for purchasing local goods, services and capex in the most cost effective way whilst working with the various stakeholders in accordance with the Sappi procurement policy. Every buyer response own categories, so will have an independent and wide job area.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the complete sourcing process for the assigned local categories.
- This includes negotiating and concluding local good, services and Capex contracts with suppliers
- Ensuring (OTIF) deliveries of the correct quality and to specifications
- Managing local supplier selection and relationships to ensure suppliers are reliable, sustainable and compliant with the appropriate regulations and Sappi requirements (e.g. SHEQ regulations, Sustainability goals ,Code of Ethics etc)
- Building relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure early procurement involvement to enable best practice procurement strategies and ensure the timely completion of assigned projects
- Close co-operation with the local stakeholders, counterparts and relevant functional platforms to develop alternatives, reduce TCO and improve reliability over an extended period of time
- Identify, develop and implement new ideas and initiatives in order to realize cost reductions and drive innovation
- Support and if required, lead cross functional sourcing categories or projects
Your skills and experience
- Technical or business degree (Master / Diploma)
- Minimum 5 years sourcing experience with at least some experience in technical sourcing
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- A good understanding of contract law and contract management
- An ability to work in SAP MM is highly valued and to do spend analytics in excel
- A self-starter with high motivation and initiative
- Finnish and English
- Prepared to travel on occasions to visit suppliers and other mill
