Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context:

Under the overall guidance of Head of Office, and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the successful candidate will assist with the implementation of Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) trainings for quota refugees and further development of PDO methods and materials as necessary.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support the day-to-day organization and implementation of project activities, in particular facilitation of PDO trainings and PDO training development.
  • Participate in further development of PDO curricula and materials in cooperation with the project team and in close coordination with the relevant donors.
  • In coordination with the Project Coordinator, liaise with IOM missions on PDO schedules and preparations, build training teams for each PDO, ensure all PDO materials are up to date and shared with relevant parties.
  • Monitor PDOs and ensure all relevant training data is collected and recorded in line with project indicators and reporting schedules. Monitor the work of consultants and other parties such as interpreters. Report learning needs and non-compliance to the supervisor.
  • In coordination with the Project Coordinator and together with the project team, strengthen consultants’ learning and skills development through planning and co-facilitating training events, particularly concerning child and youth specific questions.
  • Undertake duty travel to departure countries of quota refugees for on-site PDO delivery as per required by the project.
  • Assist in project performance monitoring and preparation of donor reports.
  • Provide support in other Migrant Training and integration related tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Completed University degree, from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Educational field, Social Sciences or related fields, from an accredited academic institution with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in similar roles; or
  • Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Previous experience in organizing training events preferably in an international context and in training different and diverse audiences
  • Experience in working in multicultural and multilingual environments
  • Experience in working under pressure in terms of deadlines
  • Understanding of international migration, refugee, and integration contexts
  • Good knowledge of MS Office Application (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams)
  • Previous work experience with introduction of refugees and/or migrants to the Swedish or Finnish society is considered an advantage
  • Experience in delivering online trainings is considered an advantage
  • Experience in delivering trainings in English is considered an advantage
  • Experience of deployment and/or duty travel in an international, humanitarian context is considered an advantage
  • Knowledge of the Finnish and/or Swedish resettlement and integration process of quota refugees is an asset
  • Previous experience in material development , preferably in an international context

Languages

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and / or Finnish is considered as advantageous.
  • Also any of the languages spoken by the target beneficiaries is considered as advantageous, such as: Arabic, Sudanese Colloquial Arabic, French, Swahili, Dinka, Tigrinya, Amharic, Dari/Farsi.

Other
