Everyone has been using ChatGPT, but only few are operating and training large language models. Join our group of data scientists, Machine Learning specialists and data engineers. We support leading AI research groups, develop open solutions for AI and host the largest AI platforms in Europe. We are a down-to-earth team of experts who want their work to have an impact on society and to help science flourish. Friendly chats over a cup of coffee are an important element of our work days.

We are looking for an ML engineer to strengthen our team. You would participate in building and optimising Machine Learning infrastructure, such as workflows and tools for training modern deep learning models. Our projects include supporting research of large open language models, implementing ways to train or use them as efficiently as possible, and developing customer solutions on using all kinds of state-of-the-art AI models. CSC hosts the LUMI supercomputer, ranked fastest in Europe, and it is considered as one of the world’s leading platforms for AI. Our supercomputers and clusters offer opportunities and challenges in parallelising and scaling the training of large deep learning workloads.

Työpaikan vaatimukset

You have experience in software development or Machine Learning. You have a self-motivated approach to working and enthusiasm for professional development. You enjoy collaborating with customers and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. We rely on teamwork and task rotation, sharing responsibilities based on the background and interests of the team members.

Skills required from a successful candidate include:

• Solid programming skills (Python)

• Software engineering methods and tools

• Machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, Tensorflow or JAX)

• Working with Linux environment

Skills considered an asset include:

• Deploying and maintaining ML models (MLOps)

• Container technologies (Docker, Singularity, or Kubernetes)

• Understanding of large language models

• Experience in high-performance computing

Good communication skills in verbal and written English are essential for teamwork and collaboration with our customers.

We are a non-profit company and base our development work on open source and open collaboration. The position is permanent and can be located in our Espoo or Kajaani office. We also have flexible options for remote working.
