In this position, you will provide technical support for GPG (Global Product Group) Power Protection Service in Electrification Smart Power (ELSP) in Richmond, Virginia delivering superior, professional service, remotely or on site. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for executing service work according to agreed workflows and in accordance with ABB standard processes and safety guidelines. Also, you will be delivering excellent customer service to satisfy customers. In close co operation with customer and other ABB teams, take actions to identify new Service business opportunities for ABB.

Your responsibilities

  • Applies safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities. Reports unsafe practices and incidents
  • Contributes to customer satisfaction by planning and executing Service work according to customer order and expectation
  • Clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in the direct area of responsibility
  • Ensures customer retention by delivering superior customer experiences and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations
  • While on site, work with the customer to identify opportunities for improving the customers operations and eliminating pain points
  • Utilize the local practices for notifying the account team of opportunities
  • Performs Field Service tasks, identifies technical problems and makes analysis through remote or on site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform
  • Coaches associate technicians and associate engineers
  • Prepare material lists needed for service activity and ensures that all materials, parts and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for Service activities
  • Prepares all documents and customer reports to be signed by the customer representative utilize all relevant tools
  • Reports work done in a timely manner and follows up when needed
  • Troubleshoot Equipment/Process failures and requests proactive corrective actions and makes recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future
  • Proactively plans and executes work on a first time right approach with customers and ensures the job is done on time and on quality
  • Identifies improvement needs and potential solutions for them in the way of working
  • Provides technical guidance to associates
  • Acts as trainer when needed, for Field Service associates and customers

Your background

  • Associate's Degree with minimum 2 years of experience in electrical or relevant military experience
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
