In the frame of Sustainable Technology HUB vision and growth, Wärtsilä is looking for a person to strengthen the Tools & Equipment team. Our team is a part of Manufacturing Excellence's DFM & Engineering Development unit (MEX DFM & ED) which as an organization is responsible for coordinating and securing manufacturability or transportability of new or upgraded products.

 

We as a Tools & Equipment team are responsible for securing functioning tool solutions for production as well as logistic process from factory to customer. We find or develop solutions, prepare requirements for acquired equipment and maintain existing design/data. We also support different stakeholders in tool related studies, acquisitions, projects or questions.

 

The preferred location for the position is in Vaasa, Finland.

 

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING

In this position, your work will focus to secure smooth logistic activities, including planning of engine package dismantling and parts packing at factory, taking into account also re-assembling process at customer/delivery destination. In addition you will focus on proper design of critical tools and documentation by means of calculation, risk analysis and compliance of CE rules. The work requires a high level of independency, but you will have the support from whole MEX organization. The position can be fine-tuned according to applicants competence/interest.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

As Design Engineer/Senior Design Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

- Responsible to define, schedule and co-ordinate activities for own responsibility area

- Secure that the solutions are available on time, are functional, safe and fulfil legal requirements

- Support stakeholders in related studies or expertise questions.

 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, WE EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:

- BSc or MSc studies in Engineering

- At least 3-year work experience

- Systematic and organized way of working, good problem-solving skills

- Independent approach to work

- Fluency in Finnish and English

- Knowledge of Machinery Directive and applied standards

- Knowledge of other relevant design standards

- Knowledge of NX / TeamCenter or other 3D cad advanced tools

- Knowledge & basic understanding of additive manufacturing

- Experience in strength calculation, welding or any other traditional engineering area or design / development projects is considered a benefit.
