Job description
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as a Business Controller. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial planning and analysis, working collaboratively with various departments to ensure effective financial management and informed business decision-making.
The role is based in Helsinki, Finland, with an opportunity to work in hybrid mode. You will report to Varjo’s Chief Financial Officer.
What you’ll be doing
- Sales forecasting and reporting: Drive and contribute to the sales forecasting process, collaborating closely with sales teams and utilizing historical and pipeline data and market trends to ensure accurate predictions. Provide standardized and ad hoc sales related reporting to sales and marketing leadership.
- Sales incentive management: Orchestrate the sales incentive related processes including target setting, follow-up, and achievement and payout calculations.
- Credit management: Develop and implement credit management policies and procedures to ensure timely and effective collection of receivables. Assess and monitor customer creditworthiness, establishing credit limits and terms.
- Opex planning: Collect inputs for operational expenditure (opex) planning, collaborating with sales and marketing function heads to understand budgetary requirements and contributing to the overall financial planning process.
- Monthly closing and reporting: Participate in monthly closing process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with financial standards for own responsibility area. Prepare and present monthly sales and marketing related financial reports, highlighting key insights and trends.
- Business analysis: Regularly follow up on performance versus budget, analyzing and reporting variances and driving business results.
- Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the company budget, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement within financial planning and analysis, implementing changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments to ensure a holistic understanding of the business and profitability.
Our expectations
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a financial or business control role, preferably some of it in technology product business
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Relevant education in finance or accounting
